Ingredients
  

For the Base
  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for drizzling
For the Filling
  • 2 medium ripe tomatoes sliced
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese sliced
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
For the Dressing
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Drizzle olive oil on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
  2. On the non-oiled side of two slices, layer sliced tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil leaves.
  3. Sprinkle salt and black pepper over the filling.
  4. Drizzle balsamic vinegar over the layered ingredients.
  5. Top with the remaining slices of bread, oiled side facing up.
  6. Press down lightly and cut the sandwich in half to serve.
