Ingredients

For the Base
  • 1 pound ground beef preferably lean
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 cups mushrooms sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
For the Sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth low sodium
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour for thickening
For Serving
  • 8 ounces egg noodles cooked according to package directions
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Method

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the sliced mushrooms and garlic, cooking until mushrooms are tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir to combine, cooking for 1 minute to eliminate raw flour taste.
  5. Gradually add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  6. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the sour cream until smooth.
  7. Serve the stroganoff over the cooked egg noodles and garnish with fresh parsley.
