Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm)
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter and half of the flour, stirring until combined.
  3. Gradually mix in remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Roll out dough into a rectangle and spread softened butter over it. Sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. Roll tightly into a log shape and cut into individual rolls (about 1 inch thick). Shape into bunnies if desired.
  7. Place rolls on a greased baking sheet; let rise for another 30 minutes while preheating oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before frosting with cream cheese mixture.
