  • 4 cups savoy cabbage, chopped
  • 4 cups potatoes, thinly sliced (about 4 medium potatoes)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté diced onions until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in chopped savoy cabbage and cook until slightly wilted.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then add half of the onion-cabbage mixture. Repeat layering with remaining potatoes and onion-cabbage mix.
  5. Pour heavy cream evenly over the top and sprinkle with grated cheddar cheese.
  6. Cover with foil (shiny side down) and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
